Ingredients
For the Donuts:
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup sugar
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
½ tsp salt
¾ cup warm milk
2 tbsp melted butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the Strawberry Buttercream Frosting:
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups powdered sugar
¼ cup strawberry puree
½ tsp vanilla extract
A few drops of pink food coloring (optional)
For Garnish:
Powdered sugar
White sprinkles

Instructions
Prepare the Donut Dough:
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and a teaspoon of sugar in warm milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt.
Add yeast mixture, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Knead the dough until smooth.
Cover and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Shape & Bake/Fry the Donuts:
Roll out the dough and cut donut shapes.
Let them rest for 15 minutes while heating oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry for about 1 minute per side until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel. (Alternatively, bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.)
Make the Strawberry Buttercream Frosting:
Beat softened butter until creamy.
Add powdered sugar gradually, mixing well.
Pour in strawberry puree and vanilla, beating until smooth. Add pink food coloring if desired.
Decorate the Donuts:
Dip each donut in the strawberry frosting.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and white sprinkles for a romantic finish.
