Seven Layer Taco Salad – Easy and Delicious

Ingredients

For the Taco Beef:
• 1 lb ground beef
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 packet taco seasoning (or 1 tbsp homemade taco seasoning)
• ½ cup water

For the Layers:
• 3 cups shredded romaine or iceberg lettuce
• 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
• 1 cup black beans, drained and rinsed
• 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
• 1 cup guacamole
• 1 cup sour cream
• ½ cup sliced black olives
• ½ cup green onions, sliced
• ½ cup tortilla chips or strips (for topping)

Instructions

1. Cook the Taco Beef:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens. Let cool slightly.
2. Prepare the Layers:
In a large serving dish or individual glasses, layer the salad as follows:
o Layer 1: Shredded lettuce
o Layer 2: Seasoned taco beef
o Layer 3: Black beans
o Layer 4: Guacamole
o Layer 5: Sour cream
o Layer 6: Cherry tomatoes and shredded cheese
o Layer 7: Black olives and green onions
3. Top and Serve:
Sprinkle tortilla chips or strips on top for added crunch.
4. Serve:
Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 1 hour before serving to let the flavors meld. Enjoy with extra salsa or hot sauce if desired!
