Ingredients
the Beef & Onion Filling

500g ground beef

2 large onions (thinly sliced)

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves garlic (minced)

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp thyme (fresh or dried)

Salt & black pepper to taste

1 cup beef broth
the Sloppy Joe Sauce

2 tbsp ketchup
-
1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tbsp flour (for thickening)
Assembly

4 burger buns (toasted)
-
4 slices Swiss or provolone cheese
-
Fresh parsley (optional garnish)
Instructions
Caramelize the Onions
Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add sliced onions and cook slowly for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden, soft, and caramelized.
Cook the Beef
Add ground beef to the skillet with the onions.
Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
Build the Flavor
Stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
Sprinkle in flour and mix well.
Add Liquid & Simmer
Pour in beef broth, ketchup, and Dijon mustard.
Let simmer for 5–7 minutes until thick and rich.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes

Spoon the beef mixture onto toasted buns

Top with cheese slices

Broil for 1–2 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly
Serve
Garnish with parsley and serve hot with fries, chips, or a simple salad.
