Ingredients
2 large onions, cut into thick rings
200g mozzarella cheese, cut into strips
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
Oil for frying
Instructions
Separate onion rings and pair similar-sized rings together (one slightly larger than the other).
Place mozzarella strips between two rings to create a stuffed ring. Freeze for 30–45 minutes to firm up.
Prepare three bowls: flour (seasoned with salt & pepper), beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, and paprika.
Dip each frozen ring in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. Repeat for a thicker coating if desired.
Heat oil to 175°C (350°F) and fry rings until golden brown and crispy (about 2–3 minutes).
Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot while the cheese is melty!
