Irresistible Chocolate Cherry Brownies

Irresistible Chocolate Cherry Brownies

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup dark chocolate chips
1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
1 cup cherry preserves

Instructions

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until smooth.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually stir into the butter mixture until just blended.
Fold in the dark chocolate chips and fresh cherries.
Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Spoon cherry preserves over the batter and spread evenly. Top with the remaining batter and smooth the surface.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
Drizzle with extra cherry preserves and top with additional fresh cherries before serving.
