Sub Rolls

Soft sub rolls or hoagie buns are perfect for holding the filling.

Choose fresh rolls that are sturdy enough to hold the dressing without becoming soggy.

Cooked Chicken Breast

Cooked chicken breast is the main ingredient.

Grilled, roasted, or rotisserie chicken all work well.

Slice or shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

Romaine Lettuce

Fresh romaine lettuce adds the signature crunch of a Caesar salad.

Wash and dry the leaves thoroughly before chopping.

Caesar Dressing

Creamy Caesar dressing brings all the ingredients together.

Use your favorite homemade or store-bought dressing.

Parmesan Cheese

Freshly grated Parmesan adds a rich, savory flavor.

It also enhances the creamy dressing.

Croutons

Croutons provide a delicious crunch.

Lightly crush them before adding for easier eating.

Lemon Juice

A squeeze of fresh lemon juice brightens the flavors and balances the richness of the dressing.

Garlic Powder

A pinch of garlic powder adds extra savory flavor.

Black Pepper

Freshly ground black pepper complements the Caesar dressing perfectly.

Choosing the Best Ingredients

Fresh ingredients make these subs even more delicious.

Here are a few helpful tips.

Use Fresh Romaine

Crisp romaine gives the sandwich its signature crunch.

Avoid wilted lettuce.

Choose Quality Chicken

Freshly grilled or roasted chicken offers the best flavor and texture.

Rotisserie chicken is a convenient alternative.

Grate Parmesan Fresh

Fresh Parmesan melts slightly into the dressing and provides better flavor than pre-grated cheese.

Toast the Rolls

Lightly toast the sub rolls for extra texture and to help prevent them from becoming soggy.

Assemble Before Serving

Mix the salad just before filling the rolls to keep the lettuce crisp and the croutons crunchy.

For safe food handling, the USDA Food Safety Basics recommends refrigerating cooked chicken promptly and keeping cold ingredients chilled until ready to use.
