Moist Banana Bread Brownies with Cinnamon Glaze

For the brownies:
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup light brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
For the glaze/frosting (optional but amazing):
¼ cup unsalted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk or heavy cream
½ tsp vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan.
2. Make the brownie batter:
In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Stir in mashed bananas.
Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Mix just until combined (don’t overmix).
Fold in nuts if using.
3. Bake:
Spread batter evenly into prepared pan.
Bake 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool slightly while you make the glaze.
4. Make the glaze:
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until golden brown (about 3–4 minutes).
Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Pour over warm brownies and spread evenly.
5. Cool and slice:
Let the brownies cool fully before cutting into squares.
