1. Prepare the Cake:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch rectangular cake pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
Fold in the sour cream for a soft, moist texture.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely before decorating.
2. Prepare the Pink Glaze:
In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Add a few drops of pink gel food coloring and mix until you achieve a soft pastel shade.
3. Assemble the Cake:
Place the cake on a serving plate.
Pour the pink glaze over the top, allowing it to drip slightly over the edges.
Let the glaze set for about 10 minutes before decorating.
4. Decorate the Cake:
Arrange fondant flowers in a cascading pattern across the top of the cake.
Add green fondant vines and leaves for a natural, floral effect.
Place small white sugar pearls between the flowers for an elegant finish.
